They are some very simple, creative and original automata's like the Caterpillar, snake, or flying birds. Some automata's might need warnings, because the parts might be detachable or some of them have to be built by the kids. But if the kids get them prebuilt then people wont have to worry about parts falling off.
Develop a solution
We chose the pear cam because for our automata we needed an up and down motion and the pear cam fit the constarints. we needed parametric constraints for our cam because they keep the relationship of the constraints in respect of each other.
Construct and test a prototype
Evaluate the solution
Aidan and I each asked one of our parents to look at our automata toy and get their feedback. Overall i agree with their feedback, which was mostly about the toy having color, and it being a bit more detailed. I had a lot of fun working with Aidan, we worked together really well, and because we've known each other for most of the school year it made the project a bit less awkward and a lot smoother, I would definitely work with Aidan again. I actually learned two new things in inventor, and they were angle constraints and that you could mate a object with a plane and offset it so you can get the spot you need. I also learned what parametric constraints were and how the help. I did sorta enjoy this project, the only problem that i had was getting it to work on inventor, and getting everything to stay put and not lock up. Overall it was a good project to end the year.
