In this project we learned about safety when using a soldering iron. This project was also nerve racking, because we had to be very careful with placing each component in the right spot before we soldered them. It also was very difficult to focus and keeping your hands steady while not trying to breathe in the fumes from the solder. In the end the final project was satisfying to see the final product and it work perfectly.
- Finish the project by the due date
- Have all led light up
- Become decent at soldering circuit boards
Construct and test a prototype
Evaluate the solution
No my random number generator was not fair because my circuit board had a 24% distribution rate for the number one. It also had a 11% distribution rate for number 2 not making it fair.
The origin of the term debugging came from Admiral grace hopper at Harvard university in the 1940's.She was working on a Mark ll computer when her associates found a moth stuck in the relay that impeded the operation. This was then remarked as debugging the system.
Reflection
This project was definitely challenging but also satisfying to see the final project to come together. It was very important for us to map out where each component was going to be placed, because it was also very challenging to remove a component if put it in the wrong place. We also had to be very careful with which direction and how we placed our LEDs in the circuit. Soldering was very hard in the beginning of the project but after a few days it got a little easier to use, but was still very hard to hold the soldering iron still, and not breathing in the fumes while trying to keep focus. The IC sockets also had a very important placement, with the notch facing down. If the notch didn’t face down then it wouldn’t function. This also included placing the IC in the correct socket, for example “74LSO8” went into socket U6. I did have one trouble with the soldering however, when I soldered the wrong resistor to the circuit and had to remove it through a long process. My circuit also didn’t work at first because some of the IC sockets weren’t fully soldered correctly, but after fixing this problem it allowed the circuit to work perfectly. In the end it was definitely a stress full process but had a satisfying final product.
