Define a problem
This project was actually really fun to do because i like using inventor and it was a good experience to put all our skills together to make this object. It was also a good idea for us to watch videos because that showed us how to make things in different ways and allowed us learn how to use new things in inventor.
Generating concepts
When i started modeling and reading dimensions i studied my dimensions and familiarized myself with them to make sure i knew how to use them. When modeling i looked up YouTube videos to help me find some measurements i couldn't find, and it would also help me figure out situations i was stuck in. I also started modeling the small and easiest parts first so i could deal with the challenging parts later.
Develop a solution
Construct and test a prototype
Evaluate the solution
I asked my friends about my train's appearance and thought it looked really nice but they said it was a bit confusing with it all being glass and made it difficult to tell what was what, so that made me think about it and decide to change my material. After a couple tries i finally decide to change my material to polished blue silver.
Present the solution
A challenge I faced was when I was trying to animate my train to move. This took the longest because I had to create a new file and start out with my track and reassemble my train. Another challenged I faced was trying to post the video for the extra credit because YouTube didn’t want to accept my video so I had to save a bunch of different video’s until it worked. The point of a section view is to allow you to see the inside of a figure to make it easier to dimension. Auxiliary views help people dimension the angles of a figure so that it makes it easier and more accurate. Broken view cuts an object that is really long shorter so that you have more room to dimension. Symbols are used instead of words because they would take up lots of space and not leave much room left. We need tolerances to help us show the maximum and minimum of free space that an object can fit in another object.
