Design Specification
Individual Summary
My group selected our most important specifications for the final design by discussing what the main goal we wanted our product to accomplish was. This included wanting to have a final design that would allow for our consumers to be able to grab food with the fork end while also being able to cut food with the knife edge, and an efficient utensil that would have the least chance of its parts being stolen. We chose to add these criteria to our final design due to brainstorming what possible problems we would see in the future of our creation such as students stealing parts of the utensil which could be dangerous for other students and a utensil that would allowed users to grab and cut at same time unlike most of the existing solutions that we had researched. Most of the existing solutions we researched contained a type of knife/fork hybrid which could only cut or grab not both. By adding these criteria to our design specifications it allowed for us to prioritize certain points of our solution. This included prioritizing the customer needs so the parts would not be stolen, the material so our product could be reusable and have as little harm to the environment as possible and the product life so our design could be used a reasonable amount of years before having to be replaced.
